Adoption Circle September 2025 Newsletter

Well the calendar says Fall, but the weather still says Summer. There are definitely no complaints with this continued “summer” weather. Because as we all know, in Ohio, we will skip from this warm weather, straight to the winter temps. Also with those temps., the holidays will be upon us. Before all that occurs, let’s look back at the events of September. 😊

National Daughter Day and National Son Day occurred in September. Special days such as National Daughter and National Son Day hold a deep meaning for Adoption Circle and Adoption Circle families. These days are a heartfelt reminder of the love, joy, and connection that adoption brings into the lives of children and their parents. For Adoption Circle, they are more than just calendar dates—they are celebrations of the lifelong bonds formed through adoption and the unique journeys of every son and daughter. For children who are adopted, National Daughter and National Son days are days meant for reflection, gratitude, and recognition of the incredible love that grows through adoption.

In September we recognized grandparents. Grandparents Day is a special day dedicated to honoring the wisdom, warmth, and unconditional love that grandparents bring into the lives of their grandchildren. Grandparents enjoy showering their grandchildren with material goods, but most importantly love. So many of our adoptive parents have waited years to become parents—and their parents have waited years to become grandparents. So many Adoption Circle staffers are grandparents. If you ask anyone of us, we would say on any given day we definitely like that grandbaby/child more than our children. 😊. I just became a grandparent 2 ½ months ago, and I will just leave it out there on who my most favorite little one is. 😉. But seriously, on Grandparents Day, families come together to recognize the vital role grandparents play in shaping lives with love, guidance, and a legacy of care.

Step Family Day

In September we recognized Step Family Day. This day honors the love, commitment, and unique bonds shared within blended families. It acknowledges the important roles that stepparents and stepchildren play in each other's lives. Adoption Circle is honored to work with many step families as they complete homestudies in pursuit of their stepparent adoptions. Stepparent adoption formalizes and deepens the emotional and legal connections within the family. So many of our stepparents already view their stepchildren as their “own” and completing the stepparent adoption is truly just a legal process and there is no substitute for the love they have for their (step) children. When a stepparent legally adopts it often brings a sense of unity, security, and belonging. Stepparent adoption reinforces the idea that family is defined by love and commitment, not just biology.

Hunger Action Month

September was Hunger Action Month. During Hunger Action Month, a light is shone on the millions of families across the country who face food insecurity every day. These families—many with working parents, children, and seniors—often struggle to afford enough nutritious food to lead healthy, active lives. Being a social service agency, Adoption Circle works with many families on a yearly basis who are facing food insecurities. Many of our expectant mothers request assistance with food for themselves and their children. A great deal of the families rely on food pantries to survive. As a community, it's our shared responsibility to support policies and programs that provide access to healthy food and to help local food banks and organizations working tirelessly to end hunger. Please consider donating to your local food pantry or Feeding America

Suicide Prevention Month

September is Suicide Prevention Month. It is time to raise awareness, foster understanding, and encourage open conversations about mental health. It's a reminder that mental health struggles are more common than many realize—nearly everyone knows someone who has faced anxiety, depression, or other emotional challenges, whether it's a friend, family member, coworker, or even ourselves. It is time for us to break the stigma of mental health and show compassion, and support for one another in seeking help. If you know anybody experiencing a mental health crisis, call or text 988 immediately. You can also chat with the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline at 988lifeline.org. NAMI, National Alliance of Mental Illness is also a mental health resource.

In September we had two families who finalized their adoptions. Congratulations to both!
