Why Adoption Is My Passion

Adoption has been a part of my life since I was young. I enjoyed spending summers with my grandparents and all of my “cousins”. My grandparents were foster parents and one summer we had over 17 children in the home. There was never a dull moment in the house. My grandparents ultimately adopted my uncle—who is 3 months younger than I am . Adoption continued to be a part of my life. My uncle adopted my two cousins, my cousin adopted her son and another cousin adopted her two sons. I could never imagine my career path would lead to adoption. Growing up in different cities in Ohio—Lima, Akron, Toledo and Columbus—I would return to these cities, but only as an adoption social worker. Once I graduated from high school, I attended The Ohio State University and completed my degrees in Social Work (Bachelor’s and Master’s). I was an Obstetric Social Worker when I met Nancy Burley. That was over 25 years ago when I started to work for Adoption Circle. I have worked for Adoption Circle in a variety of roles. From International Adoption Coordinator, homestudy supervisor and now currently the Director. I have primarily worked with adoptive parents as they complete their adoption plans with birth parents. My job continues to be so rewarding. I still feel such joy when I see parents realize their adoption dreams. I know personally the joy of being a parent. I have 4 children with my husband. We have three sons, 25, 23 and 20 and a 17 year-old daughter. I look forward to my continued work with Adoption Circle and making adoption dreams come true for families.
